Dr. Mohammad Ali Sedighi Gilani received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and specialty in Urology from Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1987 and 1992, respectively. In 1995, he completed a comprehensive training course in no-scalpel vasectomy offered by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
Since 1995, he has been collaborating with Royan Institute as a member of the specialized team at the Royan Infertility Treatment Center and as the Head of the Male Infertility Research Group. He is also a faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Urological Association from 1997 to 2000.
Dr. Sedighi has authored and co-authored more than 120 articles published in national and international journals and has presented 170 scientific abstracts at national and international congresses.
History
In response to the existing gap in the field of infertility treatment, the Male Infertility Research Group was established in 1995 with the aim of contributing to the diagnosis and management of male infertility.
The first step in the evaluation of infertility is the comprehensive assessment of the couple. Male factors account for approximately 50% of all infertility cases. Therefore, appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are essential for the comprehensive evaluation and management of male-factor infertility.
Subsequently, in addition to providing infertility treatment services, a dedicated research component was incorporated into the Group, focusing on the identification of factors contributing to male infertility and the development and application of novel approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility.
