Development of Ethical Guidelines
Infertility treatment processes, like any treatment process, include ethical considerations and challenges, and it is necessary that the way the treatment works is completely clear and specific. During its three decades of activity, Royan Institute has constantly compiled and updated treatment guidelines related to its activities. In 2022 this workgroup officially started with the presence of various experts in Gynecology, Urology, Genetics, Embryology, Imaging, Medical Ethics and Law at Royan Institute, so that these instructions and rules are written and updated in a codified and regular manner and everyone is aware of their provisions and follows them. After the final approval, these guidelines will be communicated to the vice president of the research institute for implementation.
Also, since Royan Institute has been one of the leading infertility treatment centers, these guidelines can be cited in other infertility treatment centers, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and the Islamic Council for the formulation of regulations, directives, and laws.
Among the activities of this workgroup, we can mention the approval of the guidelines "How to accept and manage the treatment of applicants with genetic diseases that can be transferred to the fetus" and "The embryo freezing contract".
