Dr. Firozeh Ghaffari obtained a medical degree, followed by a fellowship in gynecology and infertility from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1994, 1999, and 2014, respectively. Since 2005, she has been a member of the faculty for the female infertility research group at Royan Institute and is presently an associate professor. She was awarded the prize at the 3rd International Infertility Student Congress in Yazd in 2008. Dr. Ghaffari is a member of the interstitial ovarian tumors guideline committee in the Iranian Women's Cancer Association, and additionally, a member of the editorial board and referee for the International Journal of Fertility and Infertility (IJFS). She has published more than 30 articles in national and international journals and presented 80 abstracts at national and international congresses.
History
The Royan Institute of Reproductive Sciences established a female infertility research group, which has been under the management of Dr. Mahnaz Ashrafi since the institute's formation. Since the beginning of the Royan Institute, thousands of infertile couples have been treated and had children in the super-specialized Royan Infertility Treatment Center.
Activities
One of the activities of the female infertility research group is to apply the results of research projects in the field of infertility treatment. In this field, notable accomplishments include identifying the factors that lead to fetal abnormalities before embryo transfer or during early pregnancy, refining protocols for infertility treatment, and improving the success rate of fertility treatments.
Also, cooperation in the formation of endometriosis-specialized working groups, polycystic ovary syndrome, Repeated failure of advanced treatment methods for infertility and recurrent miscarriage, and Preservation of fertility in patients with malignancy, Setting up a research laboratory to conduct basic research, Finding the right methods for endometrial preparation, Increasing the chance of implantation and reducing abortion, and improving fertility outcomes in patients with recurrent implantation failure, and conducting clinical and basic research to increase the percentage of pregnancy in infertile patients, are their activities which have been to improve the provision of services to infertile couples.
